Fence Posts for Slatted Fencing – Verto

Design & calculate price
Design & calculate price

Post System for Slatted Fencing and Garden Screening

Verto is a Swedish-designed system of aluminium posts that provides a durable and stable framework for garden fencing. Integrated pre-drilled holes guide the installation, helping you position horizontal timber slats evenly and create a clean, consistent finish without measuring every gap by hand.

Often referred to as Venetian fencing, this style allows light and airflow to pass through while still providing privacy. Verto offers a clean and practical alternative to traditional concrete posts, with a Scandinavian look and durability suited for long-term outdoor use.

Verto includes the aluminium posts only. Timber slats are purchased separately.

Versatile Screening for Patios, Zoning and Garden Borders

Verto can be used in a wide range of garden settings, from simple boundaries to more defined screening around patios, terraces and seating areas. The slim post profiles create a clean, modern look without the visual heaviness of traditional fencing.

Suitable applications include:

  • Garden boundaries – create a defined edge that suits modern and classic homes
  • Privacy screening – screen off patios, seating areas or hot tubs
  • Garden zoning – divide outdoor spaces for dining, relaxing or planting
  • Utility screening – conceal bin stores or garden equipment more neatly

DIY Installation with Pre-Drilled Posts

Verto is designed for those who want professional-looking results without making the installation more complicated than necessary. The pre-drilled posts act as a guide, making it easier to position and align the slats throughout the fence.

Your Verto kit includes:

  • Pre-drilled posts in your chosen height and colour
  • Base plates for secure surface mounting on patios or timber foundations
  • A personalised PDF guide and video tutorial to support installation

Planning tip: We recommend spacing the posts 1400–1650 mm apart for a balanced result.

Engineered for Long-Term Outdoor Use

By combining a rust-proof aluminium frame with your timber of choice, you create a modern slatted fence designed to last over time. Aluminium is naturally resistant to corrosion, and when powder-coated, it offers excellent durability and colour retention compared with traditional metal railings or wooden posts.

  • UV-resistant coating: Helps maintain the colour over time
  • No rot or corrosion: Suitable for humid conditions and coastal environments
  • Wind permeability: The slatted design allows air to pass through, helping reduce pressure on the posts compared with solid fence panels
  • A sustainable choice: High-grade materials that are fully recyclable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Slatted Fencing

  • What fence posts are best for slatted fencing?

Fence posts for slatted fencing should provide good stability, even spacing and a clean finish. Many homeowners choose aluminium posts because they are low-maintenance, easier to handle than concrete posts and well suited to modern garden fencing. A post system with pre-drilled holes can also make it easier to position the slats evenly across the full run.

  • How much privacy does a slatted fence provide?

The level of privacy depends on the width of the slats and the gaps between them. Our pre-drilled holes are spaced to provide a balance between effective screening and natural light penetration. If you require higher privacy, we recommend using wider slats (e.g., 120 mm) to minimize the visible gap.

  • What is the best alternative to concrete fence posts?

Aluminium fence posts are a popular alternative to concrete fence posts for modern garden fencing. They are lighter to handle, low-maintenance and create a cleaner, more contemporary look. They also work well for slatted fencing where you want durability without the weight and bulk of concrete.

  • Can I build a slatted fence myself?

Yes, many slatted fences can be installed as a DIY project, especially when the post system is designed to guide the spacing of the slats. This can make the build more straightforward and help you achieve a neat, consistent result. For larger projects or more complex layouts, some customers still choose to work with a contractor.

  • What timber slats can be used for slatted fencing?

That depends on the post system and the look you want to achieve. Many slatted fencing systems are designed to work with standard timber sizes, which gives you flexibility when choosing timber from a local supplier. Natural, stained and painted timber can all work well, depending on whether you want a softer or more architectural finish.

Technical information

Technical details

Square 50×50 mm or 50×70 mm

Square aluminium posts measuring 50×50 mm or 50×70 mm.

Surface finish 20 µm

Our aluminium profiles are anodised. This is the same principle used for the mast of a sailing boat, making them resistant to weather and wind.

Colour options

The posts are available in the standard colours natural (aluminium), white, black, textured grey, as well as any optional RAL colour.

Compatible timber slats

Designed for standard timber dimensions of 28×45, 28×70, 28×120, 22×95 and 45×45 mm.

Material thickness 2.5 mm

Symmetrical sections

When you enter your measurements in our configurator, you always specify the edge-to-edge dimensions of the area where the railing is to be installed. Our configurator then makes the necessary deductions. We then adjust the section dimensions of your railing so that each section on each side is of equal length. In other words, we adapt the railing to your measurements, not the other way around.

Selectable railing height

In the configurator, you choose the height of your railing, from 500–1800 mm measured from the floor to the top of the railing.

Made to measure to the millimetre

When entering your measurements, we ask that you provide them to the exact millimetre. We manufacture your railing to the millimetre so that it fits precisely in the location where you want it installed.

Complete kits

Everything you need for installation is included in your delivery. In addition to posts and fittings, all screws, drill bits and screwdriver bits, as well as any special tools, are included. If you have a power drill, adjustable spanner, tape measure and a spirit level, you will not need anything else.

Installation videos and instructions

The videos show different stages of the installation as support during assembly. For each order, our installation advice and videos are tailored specifically to your project. They are therefore not general instructions, but directly adapted to your individual order.

Top-mounted fixing

The base is fixed to the floor with 4 screws.

Screws for timber fixing

If you choose fixing into a timber surface, screws intended for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor environments, is also surface-treated with Corrseal – Corrosivity Class C4. The screw is fitted with a milling groove along the shank and one at the tip. This results in very low driving torque in harder timber materials and minimises the risk of cracking.

Screws for concrete fixing

If you choose fixing into a concrete surface, screws intended for this purpose are included. The screw is made of hardened steel and, for outdoor environments, is also surface-treated with Corrseal – Corrosivity Class C4. Approved for use in cracked concrete, non-cracked concrete and hollow-core slabs. Also suitable for solid brick, hollow brick, solid sand-lime brick and natural stone.

Aluminium components

Posts or other aluminium components require minimal maintenance. If stains appear, a mild cleaning agent, water and a soft cloth are usually sufficient. Do not use products with abrasive properties, acids or alkaline agents.
