CE mark

For railings in steel and aluminium you can choose to certify based on the certification EN 1090-1: 2009 + A1: 2011. At Balustradestore, we produce our railings at our facility in Angelholm, Sweden. Our aluminum and stainless steel railings are CE-marked according to the European CE marking that can be made on construction products within harmonized standards.

What does this mean?

The CE mark means that it meets the requirement of the European standard EN 1090-1.

CE marking of construction products is not an “approval” or a measure of the product’s suitability in relation to current building regulations. The labeling instead shows the products performance for essential properties and that these have been assessed in a uniform manner. With the help of the information about the product’s properties and performance, it is possible to determine whether the product is suitable for use.

How come other suppliers sell railings that are not CE marked?

It’s not required to CE mark railings to meet personal safety. We have chosen to have CE marking on our steel and aluminum railings to show transparency in our production and provide a declaration of performance and create security for our customers. To have an external controller that continuously monitors our manufacturing process is as well a safety measure for us as a company, as it is a safety for our customers.

We choose to certify based on the European standard EN 1090-1: 2009 + A1: 2011 which is a certification of structures in steel and aluminum. So it’s not required, but something we choose to do.
